  • “Tate & Tryon is not a stepping stone.  Working at Tate & Tryon is the start of a career as a specialist and not a step toward becoming a specialist.  So many people work to become specialized, but on day one at Tate & Tryon you are a specialist.”

  • “Working at Tate & Tryon has given me the opportunity to develop my abilities as an auditor in addition to providing an ideal work-life balance. Serving a wide variety of clients in the nonprofit industry has exposed me to the unique accounting situations and challenges these organizations face.  Working alongside partners and managers from the client planning stages to the issuance of financial statements provides Audit Seniors and Staff with the necessary skills to experience professional growth and knowledge.”

  • “I first came to work at T&T as an intern after my junior year of college, so I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to really get to know the Firm and decide that it was the right fit for me.  What made me choose to begin my career here is simple – the people.  You can be an auditor anywhere and what you do will be exactly the same, however, the people you work with won’t.  The staff at T&T genuinely cares about how you develop as a professional, and really fosters an environment of learning that is both open and collaborative.”

Summer Intern Learning Program

Tate & Tryon’s summer intern learning program assists small charitable organizations. This 8-week program is designed to provide accounting interns with hands-on work experience while providing the recipient nonprofit with critical accounting support. The program is provided pro-bono.

Thoughts from our Interns

  • I’ve been given countless opportunities to gain exposure and experience with various accounting practices—such as filing DC personal property tax and 1099-MISC forms—while also working in a firm defined by its friendly atmosphere and team-oriented approach. Tate & Tryon provides interns with the opportunity to work alongside full-time employees within teams to gain real-world experience applying the concepts we’ve learned in the classroom.

    Jack Harris, Accounting Intern,

Christopher Newport University – Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business

  • Having a mentor was an easy way to quickly get to know another person at the firm, while also being able to learn how he or she has had success here at T&T. This made the transition from the classroom to working on real projects that much smoother.

    David Perdue, Accounting Intern

University of Maryland – Robert H. Smith School of Business

  • From this internship, I am coming away with knowledge of various accounting and CRM softwares, strengthened Microsoft Excel skills, and valuable time working in a professional environment learning how to communicate with both clients and co-workers efficiently and effectively. This is something that you should expect out of a good internship position.

    Jordan Kupferberg, Accounting Intern

University of Maryland – Robert H. Smith School of Business

  • I never thought that by the end I would have talked to clients one-on-one, worked pro bono at a great organization, and scored a point at a kickball game!

    Mary Alojado, Audit Intern

    University of Virginia

  • The work given to us is both interesting and challenging. I really appreciated how T&T put so much confidence in their interns. They allowed us to perform the responsibilities of a Staff Auditor. I felt that this was extremely beneficial to us because we were given the opportunity to engage in hands-on assignments that allowed us to truly see how auditing works.

    Connie Phung, Audit Intern,

    Virginia Tech

  • The employees want to teach you how to do specific parts of an audit, instead of just showing you how to do it, making it very hands-on. As an intern, you are helping Tate & Tryon actually complete an audit, not just going on coffee runs. I never thought I would have learned so much from them in just four weeks.
